The two variants of these laptops from HCL are called MiLeap X Series (priced at 13990 INR) and MiLeap Y Series (priced at 29990 INR) respectively.
Ajai Chowdhry, Chairman and CEO, HCL Infosystems Ltd., stated,
“Our objective was to launch a laptop that will take technology to the masses. We have not compromised on any feature at all and it is just like any other laptop.”
“The new range of laptops will herald a new category of computing devices and open a wide range of new usage scenarios and application areas,” Chowdhry added.
Mr. Chowdhry, we’ll definitely wait and watch!
Meanwhile, let’s see what these laptops have to offer:
These laptops weigh less than a kilogram (unbelievable!)
The Screen size is seven inches, which is less when you compared to the standard 15 or 17 inches laptops available in the market these days.
Both these models are Wi-Fi enabled, and contain network ports and an optional data card.
The low-end X Series laptops offer flash-based and disk-based storage version with a Linux-based operating system. The high-end MiLeap Y Series laptops are fueled by Intel’s Ultra Mobile Platform and Microsoft’s Vista Home Premium operating system. The Y Series weigh only 960 grams, and contains a seven-inch swivel screen. It is bundled with a hard disk drive of 80 GB with Bluetooth and Ethernet network ports, rendering full functionality of a PC with Internet. Other features include, multiple navigational features such as touch screen, keyboard, stylus, and touch buttons.
